Abstract
The statistical properties of chaotic systems made them capable play the role of stochastic sources in many applications.
In this paper we review a number of engineering applications: chaotic spread spectrum communication systems, chaotic electromagnetic compatibility improvement, chaotic noise, chaotic sampling, etc. In many of these applications chaotic systems must work as pseudo random number generators.
Several processing techniques used to improve the stochastic behavior of chaotic systems behave are evaluated by means of information theory quantifiers. The effect of discretization over randomness is also considered.
