Large-scale gene regulatory networks can be modelled using systems of fractional-order differential equations, based on the fact that several recent experimental results suggest that transcriptional regulation can be described more precisely using fractinal-order derivatives. For the proposed mathematical model, the equilibrium points and their stability are analyzed in detail and numerical simulations are given to substantiate the theoretical results. Biological implications of the present study are also discussed.
